September 1, 2021
Hannah Hall thought she knew her husband, Owen Michaels, that is until he goes missing and secrets start to get uncovered. She’s beginning to find out that Owen isn’t who he said he was, and Bailey, his teenage daughter, maybe the key to helping her unravel the truth. However, Bailey isn’t too fond of Hannah.
Hannah is trying everything to find her husband. Still, things take a turn when Owen’s boss gets arrested, and a US Marshal and federal agents come to her Sausalito, California home and ask her questions. Still, Bailey refuses to warm up to her Stepmother, which makes things more complicated.
This forty-one-chapter book takes you on a journey of suspense and mystery as a woman tries to find her husband, who left her a single note that says, “Protect her.” Hannah can only assume that means Bailey. Hannah and Bailey are forced to join forces to uncover the truth about Owen’s past.
They soon figure out that they’re not only uncovering his past but a new future that neither of them suspected. Critics say this story by Laura Dave is a thrilling roller coaster, heartbreaking, and dizzying with the amount of suspense. She’s a master storyteller, as she knows how to pull you in.
A page-turning, exhilarating, unforgettable book that will have you wondering what will happen next until the very end. If you’re a fan of thrillers and drama, then this is a book for you. However, if not, you may enjoy similar works, such as “Gone Girl” by Gillian Flynn or “The Guest List” by Lucy Foley. Both of these books are thrillers with drama sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.
