2022 “Undefined” Literary Magazine Premieres
May 12, 2022
The FCHS Literary Club, which is celebrating its 19th year, published its 2022 Undefined magazine on May 13. The magazine showcases the artwork, poetry, and prose of students at the high school. The 2021 edition of the magazine received the equivalent of a Virginia High School League (VHSL) first place award at States.
Edited by seniors Haliey Leake and Mia Martinez, the 28-page, four-color magazine is the result of eight months of planning and work by the members of the Literary Magazine, which includes Leake, Martinez, Kessler Potter, Morgan Drumheller, Riley Yowell, and Emma Ward. The work was overseen by Journalism Adviser Elizabeth Pellicane who serves as the magazine publisher.
Club members evaluated and chose artwork and written submissions from students in the Fine Arts classes of Michelle Coleman, Amanda Clements, and Michael Morris, and the Creative Writing classes of English teachers Elizabeth Pellicane and Barbara Marshall. Selections were then laid out in the magazine using Canva software.
The magazine will be submitted to VHSL for judging this summer. Students interested in participating in next year’s Literary Magazine Club should contact Pellicane at [email protected].
