The Eyes Over CTE
November 28, 2022
While many students may have encountered staff member Christy White in the halls around the school, few may have any real idea of what she does at FCHS. That is because she wears many hats, with her official title being Career and Technical Specialist. “I support and oversee the CTE programs such as Nursing, Cosmetology, Carpentry, EMT, Business, Engineering, Video Productions, Horticulture, and Culinary Arts,” she said.
White says that there is no “normal” day for her. “My days are different everyday. Sometimes I am able to get into classrooms and see what teachers are teaching and what students are learning. I enjoy interacting and learning with the students,” she said. “Sometimes the day can start off with me talking and listening to students that may have an issue going on, or I may have to meet with a teacher about an issue, break up a fight, clean up a mess, speak with parents, or handle a referral. As you can see, it just depends on which way the wind is blowing as to what I encounter in a day,” she said.
What are some things that might surprise students about her? “I love sports and I am a very chill and laid back person,” White said.
Growing up in Buckingham, Virginia, White attended Buckingham County High School. “Buckingham is the most centrally located county in VA,” she said. Next, she attended Saint Paul’s College, Strayer University, and Arizona State University, earning a Bachelors degree in Business Administration, a Masters degree in Educational Leadership, and an endorsement license in Administration.
Outside of school, White enjoys spending time with her family, shopping, reading, and eating out.
