FCHS Carpentry Receives $2,500 from AGCVA
March 15, 2018
The Associated General Contractors of Virginia (AGCVA) recently gave a $2,500 grant to the FCHS carpentry program. This grant was delivered by a member of the AGCVA, Missy Gupton, to Paul Chirico’s 4th block Carpentry class on March 5.
The grant will enable the Carpentry program to complete their project of building a tiny house for resale, a project which a number of students, under Chirico’s guidance, have been working on for the past year.
After receiving the grant, Chirico led Gupton, Assistant Principal Margo Bruce and FCPS Board Member Ruthann Carr on a tour of the tiny house and other projects the carpentry team has worked on this year.
“The purpose of the check is to get more people interested in carpentry… We desperately need new workers, and it’s great to see kids so involved in the field,” said Gupton.
