On Feb. 11, FCHS senior Jonathan Corbin was recently awarded the Harry F. Byrd Jr. Award. The purpose of this award is to recognize outstanding seniors in each of Virginia’s high school districts. Corbin received $10,000 for the award.

“It was a big honor to be nominated by Ms. [Samantha] Lewis and meet Justice Lemons,” said Corbin. “We are so excited to learn that Jonathan is being recognized for all of his hard work and we are proud to have him represent Fluvanna County High School,” said FCHS Principal James Barlow.

Despite being a senior Corbin still remains busy during his last few months of high school, taking seven AP classes and a dual enrollment class. After high school, Corbin plans on going to a four-year college, although he hasn’t decided which one yet. He also plans on majoring in government and eventually wants to go to law school.
