April 9Four members of the debate team qualified for States at their Super Regional tournament on April 6. States will occur April 26 and 27 at JMU.
April 9Prom guest forms are available in the front office. Guests who do not attend FCHS must be approved by Mrs. Bruce. Forms are due by April 19. Tickets are $20 and are on sale before school and during lunches.
April 8Culinary will be selling Cake in a Cup, sweet tea, and lemonade during April. Cakes are $3 while sweet tea and lemonade are $1 each.

March 26The FCHS Speech team won the State Championship on March 23 at Dominion High School. Five students placed first, two placed second, and one placed third.

Cross Country Nov 4-8

The Fluvanna County cross country team has been soaring through the season, making it all the way to States. Their last meet was at Regionals on Nov. 6, where they competed against 16 teams at Fredericksburg’s Loriella Park. The girls’ team placed 6^th overall, which was good enough to move the team—consisting of Nicki Douma, Devon Burger, Bridget Bossong, Annaliese Estes, Peyton Olinger, Brooke Haislip and Erin Blackburn—on to States. In addition, Nicki Douma placed 5th overall and made All Regional. “It’s awesome because it’s my senior year and we didn’t make it last year, so it feels great,” said Haislip.

Although only the top runners actually competed, the entire Fluco girls’ team was on hand to support them in their efforts. “Those of us who weren’t in the race ran around the course to cheer on our teammates,” said freshman Rene Milligan. “The girls ran very well and put their hearts into it and I’m very proud of them,” said sophomore Brooke Coleman.

As for the boys’ team, they did not score high enough to advance as a team, although Travis Moe—who placed 14^th — will advance to States. Both Moe and the girls’ team will compete on Nov. 15 at Great Meadows Park.
