Wanda Vision is a Welcome Departure

March 24, 2021

How did Marvel do with their first new offering after Covid? I would say well, if Wanda Vision is any indication. This action-packed Disney+ show takes place right after Avengers Endgame. It follows the character of Wanda Maximoff, also known as Scarlet Witch, who can control minds and levitate things as her super power. When we last saw her, Wanda was dealing with the death of her boyfriend, Vision (a character that was designed to kill people but ended up turning into a good person) at the hands of evil villain Thanos.

Wanda Vision seems like a departure from the usual Marvel action-adventure type of offering,. It starts off with Wanda and Vision inhabiting a sitcom (situational comedy) in a suburban setting and a different time period than where things left off in Avengers: Endgame.

The sitcom format works well for Wanda Vision and it kept my interest in the show. Wanda and Vision play the same character in every time period, just either with a 80s style or something like that. By the fourth episode there is a turn of events that surprised me. S.W.O.R.D, an FBI group that is part of the Avengers, tries to figure out what Wanda has done to the small town in New Jersey where Wanda and Vision are living. Bit by bit, Wanda finds out about her powers and why they are in such a different situation.

Wanda Vision is an action-packed, entertaining, funny show. that made me laugh and smile.I think they did really well with the casting of the show each cast was perfect for their part. Elizabeth Olsen returns as Wanda Maximoff, as does Paul Bettany as Vision. Kathryn Hahn, Kat Dennings, and Teyonah Parris play supporting roles as neighbors in the town. My favorite character is Wanda because she is a strong woman and has been through a lot and still has a smile on her face.

Wanda Vision can be for all ages, but mostly for the ages eight and up. It has some language, as well as action and fighting. This show is only available on Disney+ to subscribers. You might want to watch Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame before you watch this series to get the most out of it. I would give this series a 10 out of 10.
