The 100 gets a 100%

I have to admit it: The 100 may be one of the most interesting shows I’ve ever watched. I started the show late, having to watch the first two seasons on Netflix, but ever since then I have followed the show faithfully, never missing an episode.

There are currently three seasons of The 100 available on Netflix, while the fourth premiered on Feb. 1. If I’m not at home and I happen to miss an episode, I watch it on the CW app (a free app that allows you to watch recent episodes on your phone) the next day. The 100 always keeps you on your toes wondering what will happen next, and just when you think you have an idea of what will happen, the writers hit you with the unexpected.

The plot starts with what’s left of the human race being confined on a spaceship called the Ark, because the Earth is believed to be unsurvivable due to radiation from some mysterious event. The ship’s leader, called the Chancellor, has to make the tough decision to send some of the people to the Earth the Ark is running out of oxygen.

But who to send?

Ultimately, the decision is made to banish the Ark’s prisoners to Earth since once prisoners turn 18 they will be killed for their crimes. (Everyone over 18 who commits any crime is “floated,” meaning they are sent into space without oxygen.)

On the way down to Earth, problems arise, causing a couple of unexpected deaths. With the force of the ship hitting the ground, prisoners– now known as “the 100”– lose their communication with the spaceship. Now they are lost alone on a radiation-laden planet (or is it?)  and forced to scavenge for food and supplies.

As if that isn’t bad enough, all of a sudden things take a turn for the worse, and the 100 realize they aren’t the only ones on the planet. Now they have to find a way to protect themselves.

One of my favorite things about The 100 is the acting; I just feel like I’m there with them, and teens will find they can relate to things happening in the show because of all the drama going on (whether it’s the usual teen drama or life and death situations). All around The 100 is a very spectacular, interesting, suspenseful tv show.

Once you’re caught up with past seasons you can catch current episodes of The 100 on the CW on Wednesdays at 9 pm EST. Getting up-to-date with the current season is easy since you can watch the past three on Netflix. I promise this will be one of the most exciting and intense shows you’ll ever watch.
